Parole means early release from prison to community supervision. In other cases, where people commit less serious crimes, they are given a probation period instead of full jail time under the eye of a correctional or probation officer.

This resource will discuss how to conduct a free parolee search, as well as a probationer lookup in Mississippi and the different methods available to do so.

How To Execute a Mississippi Parole Search (Free)

The Mississippi Department of Corrections (DOC) manages the record of inmates released early on parole. The department has an online parolee search tool that can be used by residents for free to find out about parolees in the state.1

Interested individuals can search for parolees using different criteria such as full name, DOC ID, county, or city. The database of the tool is updated from time to time by the department to ensure that the search results are as current as possible.

The search results obtained from the Mississippi include the inmate’s full name, ID number, offense committed by them, and their location. Upon clicking the name of the inmate, searchers will be able to see a mugshot of them along with additional details such as physical description, correctional officer, and hearing dates.

The Mississippi DOC also has a help portal that can be used in case searchers are finding it difficult to use the search tool or have other questions. The page has a 24/7 available chatbot that can provide exceptional assistance in all matters related to Mississippi parolee lookups.

The Mississippi Crime Victims’ Bill of Rights provides victims of crimes special rights which primarily include the right to know details of their offenders.4 Based on this bill, the Department of Correction of Mississippi has introduced the Statewide Automated Victim Information & Notification (SAVIN).

For example, victims will be notified (on their phone, through call, or email) when their offender has a hearing or in case they are being released on parole.

Victims can register for notifications on this service by providing primary details of the relative offender as well as their own contact information.
